I am a multidisciplinary Canadian artist primarily focusing on ceramic sculpture. My ceramic arts process includes using locally sourced clay, and alternative firing techniques. My process is enmeshed with my lifestyle, as I live off-grid in a cabin in the Northwest Territories.
Much of my interest in ceramics stems from a fascination with how ceramics arts have evolved over time, and how a common and simple substance like clay can be molded into an infinite variety of forms. I am fascinated by the styles that have evolved from the simplest and most primitive techniques, to create both utilitarian and decorative objects. As a contemporary artist, I enjoy encorporating a wide variety of techniques that are both ancient and modern.
For me, the process of art making is a reflection of my current state of being. I strive to learn and continually develop in my artistic practice. I embrace an attitude of expansion and resourcefulness, and shun the nihilism of our time.
I graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design, where she focused in sculpture and installation. I moved to the Northwest Territories in 2014, and currently reside in the Yellowknife area.
